KHACHATURIAN” ASSOCIATION International
Cultural-Educational Association “Aram Khachaturian” was established
in 1990s. The headquarters are located in Yerevan. The main reason
for establishment of this organization was study and promotion
of the Aram Khachaturian’s creative heritage both in Homeland
and abroad.
However, the activities of the Association are connected not only
with the work of the great Armenian composer, but also with the
national culture in general. In particular, the “Aram Khachaturian”
Association has organized various literary evenings, concerts,
scientific conferences, etc.
Among the most interesting events held by the Association
are:
• “Shostakovich, Prokofiev,
Khachaturian” – event devoted to the 3 great composers’ music
• “Music of the 20th century”
• Concert in memory of Emin
Khachaturian
• French music evening
• “Aram Khachaturian – a New
Outlook” – scientific conference
• Russian romanse evening
• “Aram Khachaturian – 100”
• Creation of the Virtual Museum
of the Great Armenian Composer A.I.Khachaturian”
Musical and literary evenings were held with participation of
the best Armenian and overseas artists including Komitas Quartet,
“Sharakan” Ensemble”, Hakhnazarian Trio, pianists Svetlana Navasardyan
and Anahit Nersisyan, State Chamber Orchestra of Armenia (artistic
director and conductor: A.Karabekian), violinist Anatoly Madoev,
cellist Aram Talalyan, singers Hasmik Hatsagortsyan and Anna Mailyan,
and others.
Among honorary members of the International Cultural-Educational
Association “Aram Khachaturian” are: Alexandre Grigoryan – artistic
director of Stanislavsky Theater, Anatoly Drukov – Russian Ambassador
to Armenia, Khosrov Harutyunyan – public figure, Nikolay Madoev
(Germany) – violinist, laureate of various competitions, Rene
Meldonian – cultural attache of France in Armenia, Levon Ananyan
– chairman of the Writers Union of Armenia, Levon Tokmajyan –
sculptor, chairman of the Painters Union of Armenia…
Up till recent times, the co-presidents of “Aram Khachaturian”
Association were conductor Emin Levonovich Khachaturian, the composer’s
nephew and actress Leily Vaghinakovna Khachaturian, A.Khachaturian’s
niece. Since the premature death of Emin Khachaturian in 2000,
the president of Association has been Leily Khachaturian, now
People’s Artist of Armenia.
